Why You Should Put Yourself First

Monday, 31 October 2016 06:28
For some reason most females struggle to put themselves first. Whether it be their motherly instinct or the expectations that society has put on females for being the "carer" and "nurturer".  Too often we hear women, particularly mums finding any excuse not to put their health and wellbeing first. They feel guilty wanting to invest time and money into helping themselves lose body fat so that they can feel their best again! Little do they know that when they invest in themselves, they will actually invest in their entire family.  By doing something for YOU this improves your overall life and relationships . When you don't put yourself first you can end up resenting people or areas of your life that you should actually be appreciating.  5 reasons why you should put yourself first include:  1. More energy for all areas of life (to play with your kids, socialise, improve…

Why Your Goal Setting Is Setting You Up To Fail

Monday, 31 October 2016 02:39
In this blog I am going to share with you what I learnt from the All Blacks win over the weekend  and how we can implement their winning strategy into our life and our own goals.  So you may or may not have watched The All Blacks ( NZ Rugby Team) VS The Wallabies (AUS Rugby Team), I obviously did and I picked up on something really interesting right from the start.  But first, this is the sitch. The All Blacks are the only Rugby team to have won 3 World Cup Championships, and have won the last 2.  They have all of the Trophies possible locked away and are very much at the top of the rugby game.  On Saturday night they were going into a match to over take the world record of 17 Wins in a row!  The NZ Coach was interviewed pre match and when…

How To Eat Cake And Drop A Dress Size

Tuesday, 11 October 2016 06:46
Years ago I would have been scared to eat cake. After I ate cake (or another food equivalent) I would think that I would instantly pack on the pounds, would feel guilty and then proceed to do extra training too burn off the "extra calories". From years of dieting I was scared of food. Scared of eating anything that wasn't considered "clean". I was even scared of eating fruit!!! That is how brainwashed I had become. There are so many fad diets out there that cut out entire food groups of make you feel scared to eat something. E.g -No carb diets -Clean eating diets -Juice diets -Meat free diets -Low carb diets -Low fat diets By cutting out certain foods these diets become unmaintainable and unrealistic for most people's lives. As they cut out food groups they also cut calories drastically, often at damaging extremes. Sure they get results initially,…

How To Stop Self Sabotage

Tuesday, 27 September 2016 04:58
Throughout life we form our own self-image. This can range from having a ‘negative’ relationship with yourself, low self-esteem, self-hatred, warped body image to having a ‘positive’ relationship with yourself, high self-esteem, self-love, a healthy body image.  From a young age we start to create a character of ourself, this is our own self image and identity. A way we see ourselves, a way we react to situations and our own reality of what we are deserving of in life. We literally create our own destiny from our self identity.  This self identity or self image starts to be created from the moment you are born, from things your parents said to you, your siblings, your friends and your teachers as you grow older.  When we have a ‘negative’ relationship with ourselves that is when ‘self-sabotaging’ habits can easily be developed and maintained for life, unless they are somehow challenged. …

Farmers Market VS Supermarket- How switching to Farmers Markets helped me lose weight.

Wednesday, 21 September 2016 02:57
So we all know the basics of weight loss and optimal heath right? Eat a variety of fresh fruit and veg, free range meat and eggs, nuts, seeds and whole grains, plus the main factor of Calories In vs Calories Out.  This sounds very simple, yes?  Then why are we as a nation (New Zealand and Australia) a couple of the most over weight countries in the world? Well there are many factors, but one place I would like to point my finger at are the supermarkets.  Supermarkets AKA “Greed Markets” are sneaky with their marketing, making us buy more then we need, filling our trollies with processed foods and making ‘real food’ like fruit and veggies more expensive then potato chips and lollies!   The result of this, not enough nutrients and over eating on high calorie foods = Weight Gain.  We obviously have to eat and get our…
