How we escaped the dieting cycle!
Flexible dieting in a nutshell
FLEXIBLE DIETING... Everybody is talking about it these days, but what is it and how will it benefit you?
The term “IIFYM” (if it fits your macronutrients) is the common name for “flexible dieting”. Flexible Dieting is a sustainable, non restrictive approach to achieving body composition goals (fat loss/muscle gain), by looking at the amount of “macros” ( Protein, Fats and Carbs) you consume each day.
Alcohol inhibits fat loss and muscle gain so we limit our intake and obviously do not have a target we are trying to reach each day. We focus on 3 of the 4 Macros- Carbs, Fats and Protein. Each macronutrient is important and each has a vital roll when it comes to creating a healthy, lean energised body. Flexible Dieters also look at fibre intake, which aids in satiety (that satisfied feeling), keeping you fuller for longer and helps the digestion process, another crucial part of fat loss.
There are no “rules”. There are no “good” or “bad” foods. There are no “miracle” weight loss foods, only ratios of Macronutrients to promote optimal health, which leads to a hormonally balanced body ready for fat loss and/or muscle gain. These ratios are case dependent and determined by a number of factors including- body weight/fat, exercise and lifestyle, age, previous calorie intake and your personal goals.
Do you stress about eating out because you don't want to ruin your “diet”? Do you labeled foods “good” or “bad” or feel guilty after eating “bad” food? Have you cut out food groups to try and lose weight? What about “dieting” but not achieving the results you are wanting? Or losing weight, only to put it all back on again?
Don't worry, us Heavy Lifting Hippies can say “YES” to all of the above but can now say “THANKS” to flexible dieting for improving our life and changing how we view food. You may have felt like us and have been overwhelmed from all of the contradicting nutritional information out there. We now have enough scientific knowledge to never get fooled by “fad diets” and can make our own educated decision on how to eat for our goals, and we cant wait to teach you to do the same!
Understanding the role of Macronutrients helps create a healthy relationship towards food, illuminates binge eating and any guilty feelings associated with consuming “forbidden” or “bad” foods. The goal of flexible dieting is to live a “normal”, balanced, happy life with no restrictions, while achieving fat loss goals. We would love to teach you the secrets to our past and current clients and our own success of losing fat while having FUN, ENERGY, TIME for friends and family and still eating foods we love (Pizza and Ice Cream).
